Cambridge Information

Cambridge is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It is also considered in the Greater Boston area. The city has a population of about 100,000, and is one of the most populated cities in the state, behind Boston, Worcester, and Springfield. The city  was named in honor of the University of Cambridge in England.

Cambridge is one of the two county seats of Middlesex County (Lowell is the other) and is  home to two internationally prominent universities:  Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, also known as "MIT".

Manufacturing played  an integral part of the economy in the late 19th and early 20th century, but now, educational institutions are the city's biggest employers. The schools together employ about 20,000 people or roughly 20% of the population.
